In a longinterview with Le Poin magazinet, the boss of Dassault Systèmes expects a return to normal, post Covid-19 crisis,“not for at least a year”and in the event of the end of the health crisis.
Optimistic, Bernard Charlès sees in the period of trouble that we have been experiencing since March an opportunity to move the lines. The"awareness"comes up several times in his analysis, as the beginning of innovation.“Every crisis is an opportunity to change things”, he believes. And in the world after, according to him, alone“Companies and States that will go beyond the techniques of the past will become leaders.”

Bernard Charlès draws the first conclusion from this crisis,“the awareness of the fragility of our systems”.

GDPR criticism
“For the moment, in Europe, we have done the GDPR,he observes.As usual, we put the consumer before the offer. It annoys me, but that's the way it is [...] As a French citizen, I benefit from a formidable health system, which takes the incredible commitment to come to my rescue at any time of my life as soon as I need it. It is enormous. There is no reason to grant full ownership of related data to the private person. I think that in this V+R world, there is a coupling between what we benefit from through the common good and the data necessary for this common good to provide its service. […] You have to stop telling me that health data is personal data when the whole health system is a publicly funded system.”
Treat better and faster with Medidata
With Medidata,"it's about connecting facts with assumptions,explains Bernard Charles.So we want to use this platform to qualify the efficacy and the risk of a drug [...] What we have proposed to the Ministry of Health is to use this platform live to evaluate the treatments in progress on the patients, whereas today the results are collected on sheets of paper. And it's easy, it's available as an application for any mobile phone. We have found hospital staff ready to play the game. This may not solve the problem, but it will undoubtedly save time with qualified and sovereign data. And, in the short term, it can increase the productivity of the practitioners [...] About the Covid-19, the solutions of clinical tests of Medidata are used for the 7 or 8 key projects where we gathered researchers of the world level . We did in a few days what a “normal” company takes a year to a year and a half to do.”
